The Mount Signal Solar II project is being built along the US-Mexico border, in territory covered by Sempra-owned San Diego Gas & Electric, with commercial operation expected in late 2016.
Until the project is generating power, SunEdison will supply Equinix with renewables credits.
The 105MW(ac) PPA will provide enough renewable power to cover all 11 of Equinix's data centres in California, clustered around the Los Angeles and Silicon Valley metropolitan areas, as well as its global headquarters in Redwood City, near San Francisco.
