SPI Solar will buy existing PV projects from Guodian subsidiary GD Solar and develop 500MW annually from 2015-17 under the terms of a co-operation deal. It will acquire 160MW of operating capacity immediately.
The new projects will be developed and owned by SPI Meitai Suzhou, SPI Solar’s Chinese subsidiary, with GD Solar providing EPC and other services.
SPI Solar, which is backed by LDK Solar and has activities encompassing development and EPC, has this year signed a string of agreements in the global PV market spanning China, Japan and Europe.
