SolarWorld will add a module-assembly line at its plant in Hillsboro, Oregon, lifting the annual capacity in the US from 380MW at present to 530MW – with the intention of expanding further to 630MW in the “near future”.

Meanwhile, SolarWorld will increase its cell capacity from 335MW to 435MW.

All told, SolarWorld intends to invest $10m in the Oregon upgrade and hire 200 workers, most of them coming on board in 2015 – the same year the German PV group expects to return to a positive operating result.
