"Calvörde solar farm is the first in a pipeline of new projects we are looking at in Germany," said Nikolaus Krane, director for Solarcentury in Germany.
"The levelised cost of solar electricity in Germany is below the wholesale market price for industrial/commercial off-takers, which makes ground-mounted solar of this size financially viable."
Solarcentury developed the rights for the site with US solar integrator Sybac, which had won support for the project in an April 2015 pilot PV tender as one of 25 projects by several companies that combined will have a capacity of 150MW.
