Duke Energy is seeking regulatory approval for a 6MW solar array in North Carolina, as it moves to complete 141MW of PV capacity around the state that began construction last year. If the North Carolina Utilities Commission greenlights the project, the utility expects to have it in commercial operation by the end of this year.
The US will install 5.9GW of utility-scale solar capacity not backed by a statewide renewable portfolio standard (RPS) this year, according to GTM Research.
