The milestone — approximately 20 million of its solar panels have now been installed throughout the world — underscores the Tokyo-based CIS thin-film specialist’s growing global ambitions.
It reached the 3GW mark about eight years after shipping its first panels and just four years after opening its flagship 900MW factory in southern Japan’s Miyazaki prefecture.
The announcement also comes roughly one month after Solar Frontier revealed that it may be interested in opening a factory in Turkey.
