The company – owned by the Los Angeles-based CIM Group – has signed a deal with the government of the tiny east African country to develop the projects over the next four years.

It expects to invest $440m in the four-phase plan, including $11m that will be used to fund education, training and R&D initiatives.

"Africa has become a global hub for the growth of clean, renewable energy,” SkyPower president and chief executive Kerry Adler said in an online statement.
