Showa Shell, Japan's fifth-biggest oil company, is stepping up its investment in solar cells as it tries to become a major player in renewable energy.
Showa Shell Aramco will build a pilot plant next year to conduct studies on the project, which involves building a series of facilities with generating capacity of 1-2 megawatts to serve Saudi communities that do not have access to electricity networks.
