In a setback for SolarCity, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) ruled once and for all last week that the company cannot use the Triex cells manufactured in China by its subsidiary Silevo without paying trade duties on them.
Crystalline silicon cells made in China are subject to US duties following a trade case brought several years ago by Germany's SolarWorld, which operates a PV factory in Oregon.
