China’s Trina Solar supplied modules for the project, ostensibly snatching the order from the jaws of First Solar, which supplied and built much of the first two phases at the enormous Copper Mountain complex.
Amec Foster Wheeler and Cupertino Electric built Copper Mountain 3 for its owners, with the electricity to be sold to Southern California Public Power Authority.
Copper Mountain 3 broke ground in 2013, with 500 workers on-site at peak construction outside of Boulder, Nevada.
