Foundations are being laid in Australia for a new water-free solar-thermal farm that is on track to be the largest of its kind once it is up and running early next year.
The demonstration facility, being built at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation’s (CSIRO) National Solar Energy Centre in Newcastle, New South Wales, will be made up of 450 heliostat mirrors, a 30-metre-tall receiving tower and a Brayton-cycle-driven turbine system.
