Sanyo will spend ¥4.2bn ($43m) on the expansion, which will swell production capacity at the Shiga facility to 200 megawatts (MW).
That represents a 30% increase in the company’s annual solar-panel output, which will now be 450MW globally. Construction on the expanded facility will begin in April 2010, with a finish date slated for 2011.
