RES Americas – part of the UK-based RES Group – says it will build distributed-energy assets for commercial and industrial (C&I) clients as well as for municipal utilities, in some cases owning and operating the assets and at other times selling them to outside investors.
RES – a major player in the on- and offshore wind sectors, and a growing presence in solar – already builds utility-scale storage assets used for frequency regulation, but its launch into distributed generation underscores the huge growth expected in smaller-scale PV and storage – as well as the shifting landscape of the US electricity sector.
