“Renova is opening new trails to guarantee its growth,” said Renova Energia chief executive Mathias Becker during a press conference.

Renova submitted winning bids for four projects – the 29.75MW Caetité I, II, IV, and the 10.5MW Caetité V. All are in the state of Bahia.

The company has been studying a potential push into solar energy since 2012, Becker says.

Although the projects will have a separate substation and local transmission network, they are located close to Renova's wind farms and will connect to a transmission link it is building, helping to control costs.
