Installed renewables capacity will rise from 10.6GW in 2015 to roughly 14.3GW within the next eight years, says BMI Research, noting that its  forecast is “conservative,” given the size of the current project pipeline in Australia.

In May 2015, the ruling Liberal Party and the opposition Labor Party agreed to cut the RET from 41 terawatt hours of annual power production by 2020 to 33TWh, after former Prime Minister Tony Abbott placed the target under review in late 2013.
