OCI – Asia’s largest producer of polysilicon – had originally planned to finish building a 20,000 tonne plant by the end of October at a cost of 1.6 trillion won ($1.4bn).
The company has now decided to “temporarily suspend” construction “due to the radical price decline mainly driven by the continued oversupply of the product”.
