NV Energy speeds renewables plan on tax credit concerns

NV Energy, the Nevada utility owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Energy, has accelerated its plans to procure additional renewable power over concerns about expiring tax credit programmes for US renewables.

Last October, NV Energy issued a 100MW renewable-energy Request for Proposal, and said it would issue another 100MW RFP in late 2015.

But the Las Vegas-based utility has merged those two RFPs, meaning it is now seeking proposals for all 200MW – with a bidding deadline of 16 February. A shortlist of eligible projects will be finalised by 16 April and off-take contracts will be executed by 15 June.
