The installation, on a roughly 25-hectare plot of land owned by Nippon Paper in Komatsushima, Tokushima Prefecture, will be the biggest PV project on Shikoku.

In March, the two companies set up a 50/50 joint venture, Nippon Paper Mega Solar Komatsushima, to run the installation.

The venture will sell the electricity to regional utility Shikoku Electric Power under Japan’s feed-in tariff (FIT) system.
