The opening of the facility was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the company’s New England Distribution Center warehouse, where the roof-top solar system is housed.
Ian Bowles, Massachusetts' secretary of energy and environmental affairs, says: “I congratulate National Grid on this impressive solar installation – the largest in the state.
"This is what our clean energy future looks like.”
The National Grid site is the first utility-owned solar generation facility in service under the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' 2008 Green Communities Act, which allows utilities to own up to 50MW of solar generation.
