He made the statement at a ceremony hosted by the Mexican unit of Japan’s Kyocera Solar, which expanded its solar manufacturing capacity in that Latin nation.

“Kyocera gives us a clear case of how we can transform critical moments into new opportunities using long-term vision,” said Calderón, without providing more details on the executive branch's expanded renewable energy plans.

Kyocera’s expanded manufacturing base is located in Tijuana, Baja California – a region that has been hit hard by the global economic downturn.
