After months of negotiations, Massachusetts’ House and Senate both overwhelmingly passed a bill that will see the state’s overall net metering cap lifted by 3%. At the same time, the payout for excess power generated by large privately owned PV systems will be cut by 40%.
The bill is expected to be swiftly signed into law by Republican Governor Charlie Baker, and set 500 or more PV projects – worth an estimated $617m – into motion that had been stalled by the previous net metering cap.
