At a time when only a handful of countries are pursuing CSP, South Africa has awarded five projects totalling 400MW over its three bidding rounds. And it is not finished yet.
Abengoa is the biggest winner to date, taking three projects worth 250MW — including its 100MW Xina parabolic-trough project in the most recent round.
Saudi Arabia’s ACWA and the African-German Karoshoek consortium have each won one project.
