Since its launch in early 2008, Mainstream has focused exclusively on wind power, having signed agreements to develop several gigawatts of projects across North America, Chile and South Africa.
“Wind is obviously our central focus, but if you look at the various photovoltaics technologies out there, they have gotten awfully cheap,” O’Connor says. “The technology isn’t quite there yet, but it’s getting very close.”
