Its group net sales edged up 2.1% on the year in the first half of the current fiscal year to ¥714.3bn, due to a jump in sales in its semiconductor division. Net profit rose 1.7% to ¥43.6bn.

The Kyoto-based group said that the growth of Japan’s PV market “slowed considerably” as the government cut residential solar subsidies and raised the consumption tax rate.
