Korea's LG to triple cell capacity in $435m factory investment

LG Electronics said it will spend $435m to add six cell production lines to the current eight in the city of Gumi.

That will raise annual production capacity from the existing 1GW to 1.8GW by 2018 and 3GW by 2020.

LG said it is making the investment against a market background in which “mainstream consumers are more than ready to give solar more serious consideration".
