With a strong boost for solar from the Chilean government, Jinko expects to add 500MW to its current 300MW installed capacity there in coming weeks, reaching 1GW by the end of 2016, the general manager for Latin America and Italy, Alberto Cuter, tells Recharge.

“Chile is the third-biggest market for Jinko after China and the US,” he says.

Although a small market, Chile's openness – with almost no taxes or import duties nor local certification on modules and components – and one of world's best resources make it one of fastest-growing solar countries globally.
