None of the proposed changes relate to wind energy, the development of which has lagged the explosive growth of solar since the FIT scheme was introduced in July 2012. Analysts tell Recharge that wind development instead remains primarily limited by cumbersome environmental impact assessment processes.

However, by eliminating the solar FIT in favour of auctioning off capacity to prospective developers from April 2017, the authorities are taking a bold step that will reshape PV investment in the years ahead.
