The Egyptian authorities will likely hold a public tender exclusively for Japanese battery suppliers, according to The Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper.
The project in the city of Hurghada will be the country’s first utility-scale PV project to be paired with storage technologies.
It will supply electricity to roughly 7,000 homes upon completion in 2019.
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi is expected to sign a formal agreement related to the planned project when he visits Japan at the end of February.
