An additional 15bn yen is expected to be invested in infrastructure facilities, the company says in a statement.
Construction of the new factory is planned in early 2011 and completion is scheduled for 2013.
The new Malaysian project will increase Tokuyama’s polycrystalline silicon production capacity from the current 8,200 tonnes per year.
Tokuyama will conduct a detailed report regarding utilities facilities, such as electric power receiving facilities and hydrogen generators, and infrastructure facilities such as roads and wastewater-treatment equipment.
