The panel said the government should leave its FIT rates for wind energy unchanged, at ¥22/kWh for onshore projects and ¥36/kWh for offshore installations, Bloomberg reports.

The proposed new FIT rate for solar is slightly lower than initial industry expectations.

Last week, Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) said it expected the government to cut the tariff to ¥26/kWh.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has downwardly revised the solar FIT every fiscal year since the incentive programme was introduced in July 2012, at an initial rate of ¥42/kWh.

However,
