The Tokyo-based trading firm will build the solar array west of Osaka in the city of Okayama, Okayama prefecture.
It has not revealed a solar panel supplier for the project. Toshiba has been selected to handle EPC duties.
Itochu will run the plant via a new company it has set up in cooperation with Fuyo General Lease and Ene One Solar.
