Benjamin Ben-Eliezer, Israel’s minister of national infrastructures, signed the licences, which are conditional until a list of criteria has been met, according to local media.

“I welcome these first licences as symbols of the entry of many private power producers into the renewable energy market,” Ben-Eliezer says.

The first licence was granted to EDIG Construction Management, for its 100 kilowatt (kW) solar thermal energy facility at Kibbuz Samar.
