The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said last week that the country installed 18.1GW of solar from the July 2012 launch of the nation’s feed-in tariff (FIT) to the end of March 2015.
As of 1 July, the FIT rate for solar will be reduced from ¥29 ($0.24) per kWh over 20 years to ¥27/kWh over 20 years. However, METI confirmed earlier this month that a ministry subcommittee is preparing to launch another review of the scheme that could result in additional tariff reductions.
