GTM report finds PV cell production grew by 51% last year

The study states production totalled 7.1 gigawatts (GW) in 2008, while last year the figure shot to 10.7GW.

GTM's analysis shows that half of the cells produced in 2009 came from China and Taiwan.

PV panel production also increased by 41% compared to 2008, totalling 8.9GW this year, according to GTM.

Its research found the bulk of these panels were deployed in Germany in the latter stages of 2009.
