The ministry approval is for a plant covering more than 1,000 hectares near Retamosa and Pradico, which Juwi has been planning since 2012.
The solar plant – huge by European standards and in one of Spain's sunniest regions – would likely sell power into the Spanish system without any support, competing directly with conventional generators and other renewable sources.
A Juwi spokesperson said: "I can confirm that the Spanish environment ministry has granted its permit.
