KfW will advance the loans for ‘Green Energy Corridor (GEC)’ initiatives in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.

India’s GEC programme is designed to link India’s emerging renewable-energy hotspots with state and national grids, as the country chases ambitious capacity-build targets of 60GW of wind and 100GW of solar by 2022.

German leader Merkel yesterday pledged a total of €2bn of backing from Germany for India’s renewables push, divided between funding for the GECs and €1bn of finance for solar projects.
