The US industrial giant will supply 1MW of thin-film PV modules and associated power equipment to the MPX Taua solar plant in Brazil’s Ceara state, doubling its existing capacity.

The plant is owned by MPX, a division of the EBX Group run by Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista, which is championing the nation’s fledgling solar sector.

MPX says it has already secured national and state government approval to expand the plant up to 5MW, and has ambitions to eventually create a 50MW facility.
