Furnas is a unit of federal power company Eletrobras.
Companies interested in the partnership should send a letter of intent by 14 October. In case any of the projects are selected, Furnas will form a special purpose company to develop them.
In an attempt to kick-start Brazil’s solar industry, the government will hold its first separate power auction for solar, seperate from cheaper trechnologies such as wind, hydro and fossil fuel projects.
