Developer Centinela Solar Energy (CSE) handed Fluor a lump-sum EPC contract for the 125MW phase 1 and 45MW second phase of the project in Imperial County, 90 miles east of San Diego.
A separate deal covers ongoing operations and maintenance at the finished plant.
Centinela has all its permits and is expected to enter commercial service in 2014, says Fluor.
The plant will be one of the first major projects to link into the newly-constructed Sunrise Powerlink Transmission Line.
