European solar installations set to begin revival – SPE

After reaching a low point of 6.95GW in 2014, European solar installations are likely to speed up again this year led by the UK, Germany and countries such as Italy that could return to a significant market level thanks to new support schemes, said Solar Power Europe (SPE) in its 2015-2019 Global Market Outlook.

The European market this year could grow by between 6GW under a pessimistic “low scenario” and 11GW in a more optimistic “high scenario”, before increasing at between 7GW and 17GW in installations five years from now, says the report presented at the Intersolar conference in Munich today.

That would boost Europe’s accumulated solar capacity to between 121.1GW (low scenario) and 158.2GW
