The initial guidelines have been published, and El Salvador's National Energy Commission (CNE) plans to finalize tender rules by the end of the year, including estimating demand from power-distribution companies.
The power generated will be sold through the country's wholesale market.
El Salvador plans to have 204MW of solar and 40MW of wind in place by 2018, supplying 20% of total power demand, and reducing the country’s reliance on thermal plants.
