The CONFAZ meeting, to be held in the state of Goias on Friday (10 April), is expected to discuss the exemption of value-added tax (VAT) on the sale of excess power from domestic, commercial and industrial net-metering micro- and mini- rooftop solar arrays. The tax is charged by state governments.
Studies have indicated that the exemption could increase returns from the sale of locally-generated power by 20% to 30%, reducing payback time on individual investments.
