The company – maker of the Mercedes Benz brand – is tracking US company Tesla with its $1bn factory for electronic cars and energy storage that had led to fears among German carmakers to be left behind in a possible e-car and storage revolution.
Daimler will build the factory in the Saxon city of Kamenz via its Deutsche Accumotive unit.
