As an independent power producer (IPP), Conergy will initially focus on the Americas, the company said in a statement.
The move represents an important strategic shift for Hamburg-based Conergy, which is expanding rapidly around the globe. Earlier this year, chief executive Andrew de Pass told Recharge that Conergy did not intend to own the solar projects it developed.
Instead, he said, Conergy would take advantage of the "yieldco-crazed market" and sell its completed assets to external buyers.
