Ammer says the strong performance shows Conergy, which lost €10.8m ($13.8m) last year and €147.3m in 2008, has turned a corner.

Sales reached €239.4m in the second quarter this year, up by about 50% compared to the corresponding period of 2009.

The main driver of this trend was the broad global demand for solar technology, says the Hamburg-based company.

Conergy posted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) of €18.5m
