Brussels is due to announce a decision by tomorrow on whether it will proceed with the anti-dumping probe requested by Germany’s Solarworld and other European firms last month.
Both industry and government are anticipating that the Commission will proceed with an investigation, despite the conciliatory tone struck by German chancellor Angela Merkel during a visit to Beijing last week.
"We have been consulting with the EU about this matter in recent days, but we are not optimistic about the result," a source at China’s Ministry of Commerce (Mofcom) told state-owned newspaper China Daily.
