Quarterly additions this year surpassed installations in the first three months of 2015 by roughly 2.1GW, according to figures released by National Energy Administration (NEA).
The southwestern province of Yunnan added the most capacity in the January-March period, with cumulative capacity reaching 1.58GW, on the back of 940MW of new installations.
Eastern China’s Shandong province came second with 880MW of new additions, bringing its total capacity to about 2.21GW.
