The nation will likely add 5GW to 7GW of distributed-generation PV capacity to the grid this year — far above the roughly 2GW installed in 2014, said Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) lead solar analyst Xiaoting Wang.

The Chinese authorities are targeting 17.8GW of utility-scale and distributed-generation solar installations in 2015.

“Distributed generation is a different concept in China than in other countries,”  Wang told Recharge at the 2015 SNEC International Photovoltaic Power Generation Conference and Exhibition in Shanghai.
