According to SEA, total investment in the Abengoa project is estimated at $1.2bn.
The 110MW CSP element of the project will have capacity to store energy for 15 hours, enabling 24-hour power supply.
Atacama 2 is the second hybrid CSP/PV project approved by Chilean authorities. US power group Solar Reserve has also obtained clearance for its 260MW Copiapó Solar project in the same area.
