NSP has been selling its PV cells to Canadian Solar since 2007, it said in an online statement.
But the new contract is a welcome development for the Hsinchu-based company, as Taiwan's PV industry has been hit hard in recent months by the US government’s decision to slap anti-dumping duties on Taiwanese-made cells.
The deal also comes on the heels of Canadian Solar's recent decision to raise its 2014 full-year module shipment guidance from 2.5GW-2.7GW
